This past year we adopted two cats from you. Jester and Alvin, now named Sam and Alvin. They are best of friends and have enhanced our lives so much. They love to snuggle with us, and they both climb in bed and sleep with us every night. Sam/Jester is very smart as he can fetch, shake paws, turn on lights, and do other tricks. Thank you so much for letting us have them. Here is a picture of them on the couch taking a little nap. Jester/Sam is on the left and Alvin is on the right.

Thanks again.

In June 2004, we adopted Kota and renamed him Spike, because he looked like a tough character. What a joke that was! Spike turns out to be the most gentle, sweet-tempered dog we can imagine. He's generally a big baby who just wants to be liked.
Spike settled in and bonded with us immediately, and house-trained in a few days. He is a perfect gentleman and Canine Good Citizen but still knows how to have fun. Everyone loves him. We took him to a local swim meet and all the kids came up to him and wanted to pet him. One little girl said she wanted to take him home because she always wanted a big dog that slobbers.

He trails along for horseback rides, goes for several walks a day, loves to go to the cottage and play in the lake chasing minnows and waves. He is also an excellent host for overnight dog visitors. He sometimes has selective hearing, but we are working on that. We are so happy to have him.

Sunshine & Smokey
Two years ago I adopted "Sunshine" known to you as Ethel, from the shelter here in Dodgeville. I just wanted to thank your volunteers and staff for the wonderful little sweetheart she has turned out to be. I could tell she was socialized and loved before I got her at 3 months old. I was told she had been rescued with her brother, named Fred, on a very cold day in an alleyway. She is still a trim fit cat with lots of energy, and she loves to play. Her older adopted sister, Smokey, just watches her and sighs. But occasionally gets into the action too ;^)

Sunshine is a joy, she likes to sleep and cuddle with me, go outside on her leash, play feisty games with big boxes, and sit and watch the squirrels from the window in the 2-tiered kitty condo. Occasionally a little tiff occurs on who gets the top of the condo, but otherwise life is good.

Thanks again, and hoping many animals get adopted to good homes soon.
Merry Christmas and many blessings to all!
Sincerely, Mary Ann Petrak

We adopted Sadie 2 weeks ago and wanted to let you know what a great dog she is. She has bonded with us very well and we love her very much. She loves to go for walks and many people comment on what a pretty dog she is. She gets at least 3 walks about 45 min. long a day and looks forward to the next one. She also likes to ride in the car and we take her along as often as we can. She is very good when we cannot take her along and she has to stay home in the house by herself. Thanks much Iowa County Humane Society for taking great care of Sadie until we could adopt her. She gets lots of love and affection, Plenty of food and water and nice long walks. Oh yes we have given her a middle name she is now " Sadie Lane "

Thanks again, Neil L.
Hello ICHS, We wanted to send our many thanks to you for Simon! He's a GREAT cat, just what we wanted and more. Simon has made himself at home with us and we feel the same about him. He is a real lover and wants plenty of attention which we don't at all mind giving. He likes to sleep in between us or under the covers at night. He greets us at the door when we come in, talks to us in the morning to be fed and really likes his new kitty seat on the window. He's also getting better at playing hockey with his ball and chasing the fish-pole feather toy. We've attached some pictures for you.

Thank you so much Kent and Shirley

Our family adopted Molly 3 weeks ago, and we wanted to write and tell you what a delight she is. We just love her so much. She is housebroken, friendly, good with other dogs, and loaded with personality. At first, we bought a baby gate to confine her to the kitchen when we left the house, but soon realized she didn't need it. She is very good when she is in the house all by herself. Everywhere we go with her, people tell us how pretty she is, or how sweet she is. We feel very blessed to have her in our lives. After consulting with the vet, we are quite sure that Molly is a lab/newfoundland mix. She looks a little bit like a black bear!

Thank you so much Iowa County Humane Society for taking such good care of her until we could come along and adopt her. We will give her lots of love and affection, a full dish of food and water, and long romps in the park!

Hi, Thought you might like to see a picture of the kittens we adopted from you in March. They've grown quite a bit and have assumed control of the house.  Thanks for providing this great service to our community!

Hello, We adopted our bundle of joy on May 19th-you had called her Hanna, we renamed her Missy (Mischief). We have been very pleased with her and she's a smart little girl, potty training has been so good. My husband couldn't stand to hear cry the 2nd night, so he put her in the bed with us till 5-6 in the morning she then wakes us up and does not get down until we take her down. She knows her name, treats, and potty, loves being outside with us and eating ants and bird poop;^)

We had not had a puppy for 18 years, we were used to our old dog just laying around and being happy just to be with us. This one keeps us on our toes, play, play, play. She loves everyone, especially our grown kids and gets along well with our 3 year old grandson. She has a gentle and kind way about her, even though those little sharp teeth are sharp right now;^) Our vet here in Oregon said we made a great choice and that she's very trusting and will be a good dog

Thanks again, Linda

Hello,
We took Snowy home with us last December. She is a fine, happy, healthy cat. We are very glad to have her.
Dear ICHS, BJ is adjusting fine. We had a few problems with him in the beginning but I think he will adjust fine. He sure loves his walks. We walk in the morning and night. He has been very good in the house and sure is a loving dog. He seems to like going out in the back yard. I just want to give him some time to adjust to us and his new home but BJ is a great dog and he sure will get lots of love in his new home.

-Julie

p.s. BJ took 6 weeks of training classes and graduated on 6-16-03. BJ(the Star Graduate) is shown with his 3 teachers and his very proud mom.

Way to go BJ!!!!!!

ICHS note: BJ was one of our long term residences, being here almost a year and a half. It took us awhile to find him the right home but he finally found it with Julie. Thank you from the ICHS staff
