Dear
ICHS,We just wanted to thank you for these wonderful cats. They are Spooky & Ginger. They purr as soon as you talk to them or touch them. They are very friendly and loving cats. We had them neutered and spayed recently and they are doing fine. They are truly delightful cats and are a bright spot in our day. Thanks again |

We cant get over how much love is in that little dog. He wins the heart of everyone he meets. Thanks for letting him come into our lives. |
Hi, We got your postcard and wanted to let you know
Rizzo-now renamed Ginger, is proving to be a wonderful pet. When we let
her out of the carrier, she put her head into the dish of Purina Cat Chow
and started to purr-she knew she was home! She
has lots of toys to play with and 2 laps to sit on.
We are so glad we have Ginger, as Tom says: "she is such a pleasure to have around"--and I know this is what a cat is supposed to be like. I think you folks are doing a good job with the animals and having volunteers in to socialize them, I have mentioned to several people (and our vet's office) that your shelter would be a good place to find a pet. I had first heard of you through your ads in the Madison paper, so hope you will continue to get the word out. We enjoyed visiting with the cats there and hope many more will find new homes soon. Thanks again, Kathy & Tom |
Hi,We adopted Maddy a little over a year ago and she is a wonderful dog. She loves to play with the children and other dogs in the neighborhood. Best wishes, Jim Sabatke |
Lena
writes...... Hope your Christmas Day is one that's full of treats and lots
of fun! Merry Christmas Love, Lena
ICHS note: Lena was adopted by our very own ICHS volunteer, Rita. Lena had a badly broken front leg when she came to ICHS and it resulted in her left front leg being amputated. But according to Rita that hasn't slowed her down any! ;^) |
We
adopted Patches in January but she is no longer with us due to kidney/liver
failure. She was the BEST dog anyone could have ever asked for and we are
both absolutely heartbroken. I thought you might enjoy a couple photos
of Patches (right). - Chris and Dave ICHS Note: Chris and Dave decided that they needed a new companion to love and have since adopted from us Wishbone (left). We're very sorry for your loss of Patches and also want to say Thank you ever so much for giving Wishbone a chance at such a loving forever home, also. |
Thank you so much. Jane, Miranda, & Alexander |
Hello, Sorry about the delay!! It's very hard to
get pics of him! He wiggles waaay too much! -) He's doing very well, and
you will see from the pics that he has put on quite a bit of weight (woohoo!).
His foster family will probably keep him, as he really loves them all,
and they are really enjoying him. He is great with the 3 year old that
comes by and gets along very well with other dogs (you'll see him begging
for treats from one of my coworkers right alongside my pit/rottie mix Weezee).
He does very well at the dog park (he still stays on leash though), and
loves coming to work with Katie. His attitude is totally different than
when I picked him up - although he still loves the frisbees -)
Liz and the Pit-dorks ICHS Note: Lucky was one of our long term residents, almost a year to the day. He was seized from his former owners for neglect and had to stay at ICHS until this court case was decided. When the courts decided that we'd keep ownership of him, we contacted Liz from Wisconsin Independent Pit Bull Rescue to help us place him in the right home. Thank you Liz for helping Lucky find his forever home!!!! |
| A letter from Swayde, December 17th 2002
I have a buddy who keeps me company while my owners Heidi and Clayton are at work. Her name is Callie. We get along pretty good, although we are a bit competitive for attention. I usually let her win, she's younger than me! We go to the dog park alot and chase each other in the backyard. We have to eat in separate rooms though, because otherwise I just can't help myself, I'll eat her food too. I learned the rules pretty quickly. My owners say that I'm a very good boy. I only had to be told one time not to go on the furniture, and I haven't had any accidents inside. I have learned to lie down on command and I stay quite nicely now. I get very determined when I want to go for rides in the car. I usually whine until I get my way ;^) My owners are patient though, and I working on relaxing a bit. I didn't bark for the first month that I was here, but now I usually howl when I want to be let in from outside (I don't like the cold!) I also have to get used to baths, I have had 3 since I got here and I still shake when I'm getting bathed, even if the water is warm. We're all moving to Stoughton at the end of December. I'm excited to have a big house to live in, and a new neighborhood to sniff out! We'll live on a quieter street, and will have an even BIGGER backyard. I hope everyone is well there! - Thank you so much for all of your care,
and for finding me a forever home! ICHS notes: Swayde was one of our long term residents at the shelter, well over a year and a half. He got ear infections all the time, no matter how often we cleaned or treated him for them. We're delighted that he's doing so well in his new home! Thank you Heidi, Clayton, and Callie ;^) |
| Quazimoto writes..... Hello to all my friends at ICHS, I'm writing to tell you what a wonderful home I now have, thanks to you! This is officially my 4th home in my short 2 years and I'm pretty sure this one's a keeper. I was picked up on a very cold day about a year and a half ago and brought to ICHS, because I strayed from home and couldn't remember where I lived :( Then I went to live with a very peculiar woman who had all kinds of strange rules. We didn't understand one another to well and after 9 months we decided that it was best if I came back to the shelter. Then back at the shelter, I grew to like one of the humans there. She took me to see her home one weekend and boy did I have fun!!! I made up my mind right there and then, that I was going to stay!!!
I sometimes mess on the floor if one of my humans isn't listening well enough and doesn't let me out! But they seem to be getting better in their housetraining, even though I have to correct them sometimes. I get to do all kinds of fun things now that I live here. I get to sleep and lay on any of the furniture, I get to sleep on any bed I chose at night, I get to eat my chewies in the house, I get to play outside and bark at squirrels, I get my own lap warming human while watching TV, I get to play with all kinds of toys, and I get to rough house the other kids, I get to go to the pet store and ride in the cart, I could go on and on......... But what I really, really, I mean REALLY love.......is to take a nice relaxing roll in the horse pasture!!! I never knew about this wonderful activity until I moved here!!! I wish all dogs could do this at least once in your life. If you don't I think your missing out on something wonderful. Sugar says our humans like to see us do it, but I must not be doing it right. My human keeps wiping me off with the yucky smelling pet wipes when I do it, so apparently I haven't gotten the hang of it yet. I'll keep working at it thought, don't you worry ;^) Thanks again ICHS, I really like my home and I'm sure things will work out just fine this time!!! -Quazimoto Quazi now lives at my house along with a few other animal friends.
He is a strange little dog that keeps everyone laughing at his endless
high jinx. I'm very happy to be owned by such an odd little creature!!
